The building that was made famous by Annie & Al Werner has had many memorable businesses in its history. Once home to Gardenville Hardware, before that it was a Post Office. In the days when “you got mail”, really meant that you had mail, people made the daily trek to retrieve their mail from the local Post Office. The Gardenville branch was manned by a woman. Al Werner’s Mother was the post mistress.
Before Werners Restaurant starting feeding almost everyone in West Seneca, the building was a rooming house for the men who worked on the railroad. Rooms on the second floor of the building were the rest stops for train workers traveling through town.
A building that has served many purposes and has been a key fixture in the hamlet of Gardenville, in the Town of West Seneca.
